Weighted is a term used for objects that are filled with another substance to make it weigh more. Commonly used for sterling silver objects as candle holders and knife handles. This minimizes the amount of metal used while making a usable object. For the refiner it creates more work for less value as the filler has to be removed before refining the metal.
Materials used for weighting varies, for example plaster, epoxy or bees wax.
