Molybdenum blue

Molybdenum blue is a common term of several different compounds of molybdenum with mixed oxidation states V and VI. In this oxidation state it shows an intensive blue color. The exact composition is not well known, but research is ongoing.

The refiner might run into this compound when dissolving alloys with molybdenum in aqua regia.
