Fuses

Fuses are used in electrical circuits as a protection against over currents. It usually is a thin conductor within a glass or ceramic body with a thin conductor in it's center. Some high power fuses contains a silver ribbon.

Asbestos

WARNING!

As with a lot of old electrical equipment, some older fuses can have asbestos in the body. It is non conducting and can stand high temperatures so it was a popular material before the health issues were discovered.
